This snare is basically a combination of the noise generator from the last snare and the drumhead mechanism from my toms. The neat thing is that you can have the same noise generator serve as the impulse and the snare cables -- in fact, it sounds better that way, probably because of the interaction between the drumhead and cables on a real snare (see here).
Please excuse the messy patch -- I could divide it into subpatchers, but I wanted to be able to illustrate the whole thing in a single screenshot. The [random] and the math objects it connects to are a way to give each hit a slightly different intensity, so rolls don't sound mechanical.

For a brighter sound, try raising the cutoff frequency of the [lop~] on the impulse to the drumhead.
